Under the initiative, CPKC donates $1,000 for every goal scored by the Kansas City Current to support the health system’s CardioScore programme. Because heart disease can go undetected until serious symptoms appear, the programme matters.
The funding came from CPKC Stadium’s “Goals for Heart” programme. By tying donations to match results, the campaign also gives supporters another reason to celebrate each goal.
Access to screening can help women identify potential risks and seek medical advice earlier.
A $50,000 donation linked to the Current’s home stadium is now helping women access vital heart health screenings. The campaign turned the team’s 50 goals from the previous season into $50,000 for women’s heart health. CPKC had donated $110,000 through Goals for Heart over two seasons, according to the health system’s post. That funding helped provide free cardiovascular disease scans to 1,300 women, with more screenings planned. Brittany Mahomes became a co-owner of the Kansas City Current when the club was founded, and Patrick Mahomes joined the ownership group in January 2023.
The contribution came through the team’s “Goals for Heart” campaign, which turns goals scored on the field into funding for cardiovascular care. Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes have helped build the Kansas City Current into a major force in women’s soccer, but the club’s impact reaches far beyond the pitch. The initiative offers another example of how the couple’s investment in the NWSL club connects professional sports with a cause that can save lives. His arrival made him the first active NFL player to hold an ownership stake in a National Women’s Soccer League team. The club’s community work also supports programmes that strengthen the local area. The heart health campaign fits that wider mission. Rather than relying on a single fundraising event, Goals for Heart connects the team’s performance throughout the season with support for women who need access to screening.
