Hyderabad : Commissioner of police VC Sajjanar has urged the public to refrain from holding birthday celebrations or cutting cakes at midnight on Tank Bund following a recent fatal accident.
Police reached the spot immediately and rushed the injured to the hospital, but they could not be saved despite our best efforts,” Sajjanar said. He said birthdays are personal family occasions and are best celebrated at home or in other safe locations. Celebrations on Tank Bund are also prohibited, and the GHMC has issued clear instructions to that effect,” Sajjanar said, urging the public to follow the law and not risk lives for momentary amusement.
“The child and a family member died in the accident on the day of the celebration. Following the incident, Sajjanar inspected the accident site along with senior officials and reviewed preventive measures. “With less traffic late at night, vehicles often travel at higher speeds, and it is unwise to bring children onto main roads for celebrations.
He recalled a fatal accident on Tank Bund at around 2 am on Oct 4, when a family had gathered to celebrate the birthday of a six-year-old girl.
Sajjanar said moments of impulsiveness and negligence were turning joyous occasions into irreparable losses for families.
