Ratna Singh, head of the Cockroach Janta Party legal team, claims she is being illegally detained by police
NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party ( CJP ) legal team head Ratna Singh claimed she was being detained by police along with three other lawyers ahead of the party’s proposed October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Singh alleged that more than 25 police personnel had surrounded the car she was sitting in without disclosing the grounds for her detention.
In a statement, Singh said police personnel had arrived at her residence in the morning and failed to produce an official notification when asked. She alleged that officers were insisting she remain at home with them, while she refused to get out of the car. She further alleged that police personnel were neither taking her away nor allowing her to leave the spot. The development comes hours after YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained from his residence in Gurugram ahead of the CJP’s planned protest in Delhi. Delhi Police has denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing concerns over public order, traffic management and public safety.
