The ban, normally in place from 8am to midnight, has been extended till 2am from Oct 11-21, city police have stated through a notification. Ahmedabad: The restriction on entry of large heavy vehicles into the city has been extended for Navratri . The move is aimed at better traffic management and preventing accidents. Heavy goods vehicles, long vehicles and large passenger vehicles will not be allowed into the city during these hours. The ban will automatically lapse at 2am on Oct, after which the existing restrictions will resume.
Light goods vehicles and light passenger vehicles with a gross weight of up to 7,500kg will continue to be allowed besides non-sleeper passenger vehicles with a seating capacity of up to 33. Goods vehicles and tractor-trolleys cannot enter the city between 8am and 11pm, while passenger vehicles with more than 33 seats face restrictions between 8am and 10pm, according to the existing restriction. Violators will face action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act.
