Bijnor: A special Pocso court in Amroha has sentenced a 24-year-old man to life imprisonment

Bijnor: A special Pocso court in Amroha has sentenced a 24-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a four-year-old mute girl after luring her with a toffee. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict.

The incident took place around 3 pm on Dec 9, 2025, according to Hasanpur circle officer Pankaj Kumar Tyagi. The girl’s father had gone to the fields with his wife, brother and sister-in-law, leaving the child at home with other children. The man, who lived in the neighbourhood, took the girl into a room and sexually assaulted her. After her family members became aware of the matter, they approached the police and lodged a complaint. A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Pocso Act . The man remained in judicial custody after being arrested a day after the incident.

The case was heard by the additional sessions judge, special Pocso Act-I, with special public prosecutor Naveen Kumar Tyagi representing the prosecution. On Thursday, the court held the man guilty based on the evidence presented during the trial. After hearing arguments on the quantum of punishment on Friday, the court pronounced the sentence.
