In a post on Saturday, CJP said Ahire was in hospital after being “brutally assaulted by Delhi Police” while participating in a protest in Delhi. The party said he had been exercising his democratic right to protest when the incident occurred. CJP said Ahire sustained head injuries and was hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted by Delhi Police during a protest in the national capital. He said the protesters were also not allowed to contact their lawyers.

Das further alleged that Delhi Police did not provide formal detention notices to the protesters and seized their phones without issuing seizure memos. “Where is the NHRC? Where is the high court? Where is the Supreme Court? Das asked, questioning the response to the alleged assault on Ahire.
