Actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna
Hyderabad: Construction of a 4.3-km-long, six-lane elevated corridor connecting Muffakham Jah College with Jubilee Hills checkpost is progressing rapidly, with actor Nandamuri Balakrishna , voluntarily parting with over 800 square yards of land at his residence to facilitate expansion of Road no 45 junction. Bhavya Constructions handed over 341.33 square yards of land in exchange for TDR While Shabdalaya Studios handed over 608 square yards of land in exchange for TDR. Land in the area is valued at approximately ₹4 lakh to ₹5 lakh per square yard.
A dedicated connecting ramp is also being constructed to link the elevated corridor with Banjara Hills Road No. Apart from Balakrishna, Shabdalaya Studios and Bhavya Constructions have also agreed to part with land portions of their properties in the larger public interest. The owners opted for transferable development rights (TDR) instead of monetary compensation.
Balakrishna agreed to surrender approximately 862.77 square yards of land at his residence in Jubilee Hills. NTR built the house for Balakrishna in 1982, and it has remained his residence for decades.
