Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will on Monday transfer Rs 483 crore as agricultural input subsidy to farmers whose crops were damaged by floods and excessive rainfall across the state. The amount will be credited directly to bank accounts of 9.18 lakh affected farmers during a programme in Gorakhpur . Data from the Relief Commissioner’s office shows 9,18,091 farmers reported crop damage between April 1 and Oct 9. Districts had earlier received Rs 169 crore in advance for crop-loss assistance related to natural disasters. So far, 1.29 lakh farmers have been paid Rs 78.75 crore as compensation.
State govt said Uttar Pradesh has faced excessive rainfall, hailstorms, cyclones and flooding linked to environmental changes, including the impact of the Super El Niño phenomenon. Officials said the most significant crop losses were recorded in the last week of Sept after Cyclone Arnav.
Apart from crop relief, govt said it has disbursed Rs 225.93 crore to families affected by disasters for deaths, livestock losses and house damage.
