Green marathon
Lucknow: Combining their passion for running with the message of environmental sustainability, fitness enthusiasts and seasoned runners turned up in large numbers to take part in a green marathon at 1090 Crossing in Gomti Nagar on Sunday. At least 4,670 people participated in the event, which featured 5km, 10km and 21km categories catering to runners with different levels of experience. The 10km and 21km categories were timed races certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), while the 5km event was a non-timed run.
The Lucknow run marked the beginning of the seventh season of the marathon, which will travel to 17 cities across the country. Participants from different age groups and walks of life joined the run, turning the event into a celebration of fitness. The event was flagged off by chief general manager, SBI (Lucknow Circle) Dipesh Raj, general managers Vimal Kishore, Rajeev Kumar and Kaushalendra Kumar, DGM (CSR) Dharmendra Thakur, and DGM Dhirendra Mahe.
