A dispute over an alleged molestation case triggered the clash, police said. Nagpur: Ten persons belonging to two rival groups were arrested after a violent clash outside Kanhan police station around midnight on Monday.
The issue began after Mohan Chavan lodged a complaint with New Kamptee police, accusing Karansingh Parmar of molestation. Police registered a case against Parmar. Later, the Parmar family approached Kanhan police, demanding action against the Chavans. Police summoned the Chavan family for preventive action. As they were leaving the police station after discussions, members of the Parmar family allegedly abused them near the entrance, triggering an argument that escalated into a physical fight. Police personnel attempted to pacify both groups, but their efforts failed. Police registered rioting and attempted murder cases against ten people and arrested them. A court subsequently remanded all ten accused to one-day police custody.
