He has also been booked under Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, relating to sexual assault and sexual harassment of a child, respectively.
Senior inspector Mahesh Bansode said police registered a case soon after receiving information about the incident. “We arrested the accused with the help of CCTV footage,” Bansode said. The girl had gone to the temple with her parents when the alleged assault took place, according to the police.
CCTV footage from the temple reportedly shows the accused entering the premises and allegedly assaulting the child, helping police identify and arrest him. The CCTV footage captured the worker entering the temple and purportedly showed the assault, providing investigators with a lead in the case. His identity has not been disclosed.
