Hyderabad : Expressing surprise over the approval granted for a 35-floor high-rise in the heart of Hyderabad, the Telangana high court on Tuesday wondered how such a massive project secured permissions near the historic Moazzam Jahi Market and sought to examine the matter closely.
The petitioner has challenged the permission granted by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in 2022 to Meenakshi Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for the high-rise project and sought directions to halt further construction. Counsel for the petitioner contended that GHMC had granted permission in Aug 2022 without following due procedure and without adequately examining safety norms, thereby posing a serious risk to the proposed structure and surrounding areas. The observations came during the hearing of a petition filed by Society for Crusade against Corruption.
