At just 19, Arvid Lindblad has become one of the most exciting new faces in Formula 1. Having impressed in the junior categories before making his Formula 1 debut this season, Lindblad is now competing on some of the world’s biggest racing circuits against the sport’s elite.

Born to a Swedish father and an Indian mother, the youngster says every visit to India brings him closer to his heritage. Visiting food markets and seeing the dishes I’ve grown up eating at home made me feel even closer to my roots,” he says. The British driver, who races for Racing Bulls, is regarded as one of the sport’s brightest young prospects. “I’ve always been proud of my heritage, but actually coming to India made me feel much more connected to it. What made it more special was that I was here with my Indian grandparents. One memory I’ll always carry is visiting Azad Maidan, where Sachin Tendulkar learnt cricket. Seeing so many children chasing their dreams and getting to play cricket with them was emotional. Ask him how Indian he feels, and the answer comes instantly. “I’d say I’m very Indian. I’m very proud of that side of me. My maternal grandparents played a huge role in bringing me up and I still spend a lot of time with them whenever I’m away from racing. It’s something I’m embracing more and more. And when it comes to food, nothing beats my nani’s cooking. Her rajma and dal are definitely my favourites.”
