In a similar case, Shabnam Ali and her lover Saleem were awarded the death penalty for killing seven members of her family with an axe after sedating them, including her 10-month-old nephew on April 14, 2008 in Amroha district. Her mercy plea is pending with the President.

Incidentally, even though Mathura jail has the execution facility for female death row convicts, no such procedure has taken place here until now, the official further said.
