Muzaffarnagar : A 17-year-old girl returning after appearing for the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination was sexually harassed by a 45-year-old man in broad daylight in Aligarh. The incident was captured by a CCTV camera, and the footage later surfaced on social media. Aligarh SSP Neeraj Jadaun subsequently suspended the area SHO, citing police negligence and inadequate security arrangements for women.

A member of the girl’s family subsequently lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered under multiple provisions, including BNS section 74 and Pocso Act , which deals with assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty.
Aligarh SP (city) Aditya Bansal said the case was registered on Oct 10 and the accused was arrested and produced before a court.
He said the investigation was conducted on the basis of the available evidence.
