Agartala: Tripura CPM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury Thursday denounced the persecution of minority communities in Bangladesh, calling for unified action from secular democratic groups against the current regime’s oppression.
The MEA has raised concerns over attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh and urged the Bangladeshi government to protect its minority communities. Several incidents, including attacks on temples and the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, have heightened tensions. India emphasizes the need for safety and security for Hindu minorities and their places of worship.
Following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s departure on Aug 5 this year, various organisations including Hindu groups, civil rights bodies, the ruling BJP, its coalition partner TIPRA Motha, and the opposition Congress had already brought these concerns to the Centre’s notice.
No one can insult the pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other freedom fighters who made Bangladesh a sovereign nation,” Chaudhury said. “In the name of change, the present govt of Bangladesh is saying that Pakistan is their good friend and that relations must be built with them. This is highly condemnable.
