Agra: A Pocso court in Etah on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy in 2024. The court imposed a Rs 73,000 fine on the convict and directed that Rs 60,000 of the amount be paid to the minor survivor. Based on a complaint filed by the minor survivor’s mother on June 19, the day of the crime, an FIR was registered under IPC 377 (unnatural sex), 504 (intentional insult) and the Pocso Act . A charge sheet was filed on July 30, 2024.

During the trial, the prosecution argued that the boy’s testimony along with documentary and medical evidence established the charges beyond reasonable doubt,” the ADGC told TOI . Delivering the verdict, special judge Narendra Pal Rana stated the “accused man does not deserve any sympathy or leniency, as granting him relief now would send a wrong message to society”. The court further took note that the minor survivor was not only abused but also “threatened with death to silence him”.

Both the convict and survivor belong to the same village in UP’s Etah. “During investigation, police recorded the child’s statement and collected medical reports, school records to establish his age.
