Workers were casting a roof slab on the fourth floor when the structure gave way
Around 10 to 12 workers were at the site, four of whom were trapped under the debris. Police identified the dead as Alam, 30, and Rifuel, 28, both from West Bengal, and Shivram, 42, from Nepal. Another worker, Dildar, 45, also from West Bengal, was taken to SN Medical College in Agra for treatment.
Mathura district magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh told TOI, “The mall’s plans had been approved by the authorities, and the company has also assured financial support to the victims’ families. Police said further action will be taken if they find evidence of negligence or violations of safety rules. One died on the spot, while two others were declared dead after they were taken to hospital. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the incident and assured all possible help to the families.
Families Demand Accountability After Construction Collapse
Families of the victims from the recent construction collapse at Vrindavan Courtyard Mall have accused Omaxe, the construction company involved, of negligence. They claim that the company failed to implement adequate safety measures at the site. As a result, they are demanding compensation of Rs 50 lakh for each affected family.
In response, RK Jain, the general manager at Omaxe, expressed his condolences for the loss of life and confirmed that work had been ongoing at the site through the night prior to the incident. Jain stated, “The company will assist the families and cooperate with the inquiry into the cause of the collapse.”
