Agra : Distressed over an online video that purportedly showed him in an inebriated state near the civil court premises — leading to his suspension — a 27-year-old sub-inspector posted at Barla police station in Aligarh allegedly died by suicide at his rented accommodation on Wednesday morning.
“The body has been sent for postmortem and circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated,” SP (City) Aditya Bansal said. Tiwari had earlier faced complaints regarding reporting for duty in an allegedly inebriated condition, according to police sources. Senior police officers, including SSP Neeraj Jadaun, rushed to the spot alongside a forensic field unit to inspect the scene and collect evidence. After completing his training, he was initially posted at Barka outpost under Khair police station before being transferred to Barla outpost following complaints. Similar allegations surfaced there as well, leading to his attachment to the police lines a few months ago. Tiwari was suspended once again and attached to the police lines after the latest video was circulated online, requiring him to report there daily, his father added.
