Ahmedabad: A 50,000-seat athletics stadium, an international-standard indoor shooting centre and a multi-discipline indoor arena are among the key facilities planned at Gujarat’s new sports hub at Karai. The proposed complex, spread across 143 acres of the Gujarat Police Academy campus, is expected to serve as a key venue for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
Master planning and concept development have been completed with the involvement of internationally recognised sports infrastructure experts, officials said. The project is expected to create a sporting legacy for the Gujarat Police Academy. Police personnel could benefit from access to modern athletics and shooting facilities, specialised training programmes and upgraded campus infrastructure. Studies have also been undertaken on venue planning, transport connectivity, sustainability, operational requirements and future expansion.
