The student organisation, however, said the visit was part of its “Student’s Raid” campaign to check the quality of food served at the hostel mess. Some ABVP activists, including men and women, entered the hostel premises and caused a disturbance, according to Vidyapith authorities. Vice-chancellor Harshad Patel said, “ABVP members entered the hostel without permission around 8pm. ABVP state secretary Devansh Brahmbhatt said its members had visited the hostel as part of the organisation’s ‘Student’s Raid’ campaign. Students’ health and safety cannot be compromised,” he said.
