Kalpesh Prajapati killed his father for assaulting his mother over money dispute in Kalol
Police said Kalpesh Prajapati, 40, went to confront his father, Kantilal, after the latter allegedly assaulted Kalpesh’s mother during the dispute on Tuesday. Kalpesh went to Kantilal’s stall around 11.15am to reason with him, according to her complaint. Police said Kalpesh later returned home and told his mother that Kantilal had abused him and refused to listen. Ahmedabad: A dispute over money between an estranged couple turned deadly in Kalol when their son, who had returned from the US six months ago, allegedly beat his father to death with a wooden stick. The confrontation turned violent, with Kalpesh allegedly attacking him until he collapsed and later died. Kalpesh was traced and arrested in Kalol town in the evening. However, the conversation allegedly turned into a heated argument. He then allegedly returned to the stall, picked up a wooden stick lying nearby and assaulted his father on the head and body. Kantilal suffered serious injuries and collapsed. Local residents called an ambulance and rushed him to Kalol Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment. Kalol City police registered a murder case under relevant provisions of BNS and the Gujarat Police Act. Download the TOI App.
Kalpesh lived with his mother, Madhu , 60, at Sankalp Residency near Sudarshan Crossroads, according to Kalol City police. His father had been living separately for around 16 years and ran a cycle puncture stall near Kapiraj Shopping Centre. Police said the trouble began around 10.15am on Tuesday when Kantilal allegedly went near Madhu’s residence carrying a wooden stick and demanded money from her.
His wife and two daughters live in the US, while he returned to India around six months ago. A quarrel broke out, during which he allegedly abused her and hit her on the leg with the stick. Madhu then called Kalpesh and asked him to speak to his father.
