Ahmedabad: A young man’s body was discovered floating in the Sabarmati River on Sunday. A heartbreaking message was written on his palm, which read, ‘Mere papa ko meri body pahuncha dena’ (hand over my body to my father). The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation by local authorities.
The body was spotted near the Riverfront around 10.30am. Some clothing was found on the upper portion of the skeleton, and police suspect that the person had been dead for more than 10 days.
Police said no identity documents were found on him. Police, fire brigade, and River Rescue teams pulled out the body. Police identified the deceased as Rohit Prajapati, a resident of Dungarpur in Rajasthan . However, the message on his palm also had a mobile number, which was traced to his family. The body was sent for postmortem as Riverfront East police began investigating the circumstances surrounding the youth’s death. Police are examining whether Rohit died by suicide or whether any other cause came into play. The person’s identity remains unknown.
On Saturday, police found a skeleton floating in Sabarmati near Jamalpur.
