Happy Street, Law Garden, Ahmedabad
Standing committee chairman Kamlesh Patel said that officials have been directed to invite tenders for the pay & park facility at Happy Food Street and award the contract at the earliest. The pay & park contract for the area and nearby roads had expired around six months ago. The committee has ordered action against those illegally collecting parking charges from vehicle owners. A separate action has also been following a complaint against illegal sheds constructed by some vendors.
Ahmedabad: People visiting Law Garden’s Happy Street may have been paying parking charges to unauthorised collectors for months, according to a complaint raised before Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s standing committee on Thursday.

Riddhesh Rawal, deputy municipal commissioner, said the civic body was also preparing to invite tenders for pay & park facilities around seven metro stations in the city. “These tenders will operate on a revenue-sharing model, with CCTV cameras installed at entry and exit points,” Rawal said. He added that the pay & park facility at Happy Street was managed by the zonal office and that the tendering process was underway and would be expedited. Download the TOI App.
