Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad crime branch arrested a 40-year-old man who allegedly posed as a deputy mamlatdar cum executive magistrate of Modasa. He was carrying a fake Gujarat govt identity card.
Police said preliminary verification revealed that the identity card was fake and Amin was not a govt official.
A team was patrolling Maninagar area when it received information that a man, who had allegedly been booked earlier in cases involving impersonation as a police officer, was roaming near the railway crossing, according to a complaint filed by an unarmed police constable attached to crime branch. The team reached the spot and detained the man matching the description. He was subsequently handed over to Maninagar police for further legal action. A case was registered at Maninagar police station under section of BNS pertaining to personating a public servant. Police records show that Amin has allegedly been named in at least five previous cases registered at Maninagar, Himmatnagar, Thasra, DCB and Dharampur police stations. The cases include charges related to impersonation, cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, robbery and criminal conspiracy.
