Ambuja Cements will invest around Rs 14,500 crore in its next phase: The wider industry impact

Ahmedabad: Ambuja Cements will invest around Rs 14,500 crore in its next phase of expansion, adding 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cement capacity across India as it targets 155MTPA by FY30.

The company currently has an installed cement capacity of 113.5MTPA. The company has set a target of reducing its cement manufacturing cost to Rs 4,000 per tonne by FY28.

“Every capacity addition should strengthen the competitiveness of the overall business,” said Vinod Bahety, CEO, Cement Business, Adani Group . He said the expansion would improve logistics efficiency and create a more balanced manufacturing network. The expansion will cover the eastern, western and northern markets through a combination of new grinding units and clinker manufacturing facilities. The investment will strengthen the company’s manufacturing network and bring production facilities closer to consumption centres. Ambuja expects shorter transportation distances and improved integration between clinker production and cement grinding to lower operating costs.

The company also plans to commission a 2.4 MTPA grinding unit at Warisaliganj in Bihar during the same period. These additions are expected to take its total cement capacity to 119MTPA by March 2027. Since its acquisition, Ambuja completed 11 capacity expansion projects, adding 16.3MTPA of cement capacity and 9MTPA of clinker capacity up to Sept 30, 2026.
