A bench of Justice N S Sanjay Gowda and Justice J L Odedra issued notice to the officers and sought their reply by Oct 15. Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court issued notice to principal secretary (home), Sanjeev Kumar, and director general of police G S Malik over a contempt petition filed by a constable for not being re-transferred to his original posting despite order of the high court. In Aug, HC quashed the inter-district transfer order of constable Kameshkumar Makwana from Morbi to Kutch (East), issued without mentioning any ground of administrative exigency. HC also ordered the authority to re-transfer him to Morbi district by holding that the police manual and law do not provide for such inter-district transfer without proper reasons. As Makwana was not transferred again following HC order, he filed an application in HC through his advocate Prashant Chavda alleging contempt of court on part of home secretary and DGP.
