Gujarat to GIS-map manufacturing MSMEs, integrate data with PM Gati Shakti

Gandhinagar : The Gujarat govt is set to undertake GIS-based geo-tagging and mapping of manufacturing MSME units registered on the state’s Udyog portal. The move is aimed at creating a comprehensive database for infrastructure planning and policy formulation.

Gujarat Launches MSME Mapping Project Under RAMP Scheme

The Gujarat MSME commissionerate is executing a new project under the Union government’s Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme. Gujarat Info Petro Ltd (GIPL) has been designated as the nodal agency responsible for conducting a comprehensive mapping exercise of manufacturing MSME units across the state.

As part of this initiative, GIPL representatives will visit various MSME units to geo-tag their locations and gather essential information. The MSME commissionerate has called on both industry associations and individual units to cooperate with GIPL by providing the necessary data for this exercise.

Officials said the exercise would enable the govt to access information on the location and other details of MSME units in a more systematic manner and help facilitate need-based infrastructure, support and other services. The GIS-based mapping is expected to create an integrated and structured database of manufacturing MSMEs, which can be used for planning infrastructure, framing policies and implementing govt schemes more effectively. The mapped data will also be integrated with PM Gati Shakti portal, strengthening data-driven planning and decision-making. Download the TOI App.
