Ahmedabad: The Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPUGMEC) has released the merit list for undergraduate ayurveda and homeopathy courses under the state quota, shortlisting 6,800 students from 7,193 applicants. A total of 387 applications were rejected during verification due to documentation errors and other discrepancies.
For the 15% all-India quota (AIQ) seats, 577 candidates made it to the merit list. The admission process comes amid concerns over pending regulatory approvals for several ayurveda and homeopathy colleges, along with a reported seat reduction across govt-run ayurveda institutions. In a departure from previous years, admissions to homeopathy and ayurveda courses are being conducted independently of MBBS and dental (BDS) courses. However, with the total number of registered candidates closely aligning with available seats, sources indicate that nearly all eligible applicants stand a strong chance of securing a seat during the upcoming counselling rounds. A category-wise breakdown of the state quota merit list reveals that SEBC candidates form the largest group with 2,940 students, followed by EWS (1,222), general (953), SC (927), and ST (758). Under the new split-admission model, candidates applying to both medical and Ayush courses must register and pay processing fees separately for each process.
Earlier, a unified single-window system allowed candidates to apply for all four streams under a single registration.
