More light spells are likely over the next few days
Ahmedabad: Monday mostly remained cloudy until evening when a spell of light showers drenched the city. Till 8pm, the city had received an average 1mm of rainfall. Areas around SG Highway such as Satellite, Bodakdev and Prahladnagar received rain.
At 34.7 degrees celsius, the maximum temperature was 0.7 degree above normal. The minimum temperature of 25 degrees was recorded as normal. Till 8pm on Monday, Borsad (Anand) recorded the highest rainfall at 53mm, followed by 32mm in Sojitra (Anand), 31 mm in Vadali (Sabarkantha), 26mm in Kaprada (Valsad), and 23mm in Lodhika (Rajkot) among others.
The majority of rainfall was concentrated in central Gujarat, according to State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) data. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast chances of cloudy weather with one or two spells of rain in the state over the next few days, and has not issued any warning. IMD’s bulletin indicates withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. The next few days may see further withdrawal from Saurashtra and Kutch.
