Ahmedabad: With rainy spells continuing for the second straight day, on Monday, the city’s seasonal tally reached 82%. Until 8pm on Monday, Ahmedabad received an average of 88mm of rainfall, while in the 24 hours ending 6am on Monday, it recorded 43mm. The morning-to-afternoon downpours exposed AMC’s pre-monsoon plan, with 64 complaints of waterlogging coming in from across the city. Over 100 locations were flooded with knee-deep water. The locations included Sindhu Bhavan Road, Judges Bungalow Road, SG Highway Service Road, 132 Feet Ring Road, the stretch from Vastrapur lake towards Himalaya Mall, and Helmet Circle.
Areas that recorded high rainfall included Sarkhej (144mm), Vatva (143mm), Bopal (135mm), Jodhpur (123mm), Bodakdev and Dudheshwar (119mm), and Maninagar (101mm).
It received 23 complaints related to falling trees, and two complaints related to dangerous structures, according to AMC data. Of the 89 complaints, 34 were addressed and work on others was initiated, officials said.
