Sanghavi said Gujarat had developed a structured recruitment system over the past decade

Gandhinagar : Handing over appointment letters to 113 newly recruited deputy section officers (DySOs) on Dhanteras, deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi said on Friday that the state govt has planned direct recruitment to more than 2.1 lakh Class I, II and III posts between 2024 and 2033.

Of the 113 recruits joining the state secretariat, 87 were selected through regular direct recruitment, while 26 were appointed under a special recruitment drive for persons with disabilities, an official statement said. The govt also promoted 64 section officers of the secretariat cadre. Between 2014 and 2023, the state filled 1,79,424 posts, achieving 92.9% of its recruitment target, he claimed.

Sanghavi said Gujarat had developed a structured recruitment system over the past decade, allowing candidates to prepare for govt examinations through a recruitment calendar. Highlighting the reach of the recruitment process, Sanghavi said candidates from remote parts of the state, including Dahod and villages along the India-Pakistan border in Banaskantha, had secured positions in the secretariat. Their selection demonstrated how a merit-based and transparent process could open opportunities for candidates from areas far removed from urban centres, he said. Urging the new recruits to discharge their duties with dedication, Sanghavi said govt appointments were based on merit, talent and hard work, without recommendations or external influence.
