Madurai : A 30-bed specialised burn ward has been opened at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) ahead of Deepavali to provide immediate treatment to victims of firecracker accidents.

Though the hospital does not expect a significant rise in cases due to safety awareness among residents, an additional 20 beds in the emergency ward have been kept ready to handle any surge.
