Ahmedabad: A 34-year-old research and development manager at a company in Bavla on Thursday filed a complaint with Sarkhej police, accusing his wife and mother-in-law of assaulting him over a phone call from his colleague.
The incident took place on July 15 at the couple’s Makarba residence, according to the complaint. The man said he had returned home from work around 8.30pm and after dinner went to pick up their four-year-old daughter from his in-laws’ house in Prahladnagar. Soon after he returned home around 10.30pm, a colleague called on his mobile phone. As the harassment allegedly continued, the man submitted an application to Sarkhej police on Oct 27, seeking action against the two, and filed a formal complaint on Oct 29.
The man told police he later went to Sola Civil Hospital to get treated for his injuries. His wife answered the call but heard no response from the other end. Saying it was a woman, the wife allegedly suspected him of having an affair, which led to an argument. The fight escalated after the wife called her mother over. The two women allegedly assaulted him and threw his belongings out of the house.
