Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday inaugurate, lay foundation stones for and dedicate railway infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore in Gujarat, Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
Vaishnaw also announced that the foundation stone for the third and fourth railway lines between Vadodara and Ratlam will be laid. A new passenger train between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar), along with four new freight train services on the western DFC, will also be flagged off, the minister announced.
Speaking to the media at Ahmedabad airport, Vaishnaw said the projects would significantly strengthen Gujarat’s railway network and improve both passenger and freight connectivity. The railway minister stated that the completion of eastern and western dedicated freight corridors (DFC) is a major backbone of India’s transportation system. The western DFC from JNPT to Dadri and the eastern corridor from Ludhiana through Prayagraj to Son Nagar have been completed and will be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project Updates
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project is making significant progress. The Surat-Bilimora section is scheduled for completion in the upcoming year. Meanwhile, construction on the section between Vapi and Surat is expected to finish by December of this year. In addition, the first coach designated for testing has been successfully completed.
