Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court on Friday issued a notice to Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks on a PIL complaining that despite errors in Class VI and VIII Sanskrit textbooks being pointed out to the Board and it making the corrections, uncorrected versions were distributed to students of govt schools.

He made suggestions and the Board acknowledged its mistakes in a letter written to him on March 5 this year. Further hearing has been posted on Dec 14. He further submitted that when he went through the Sanskrit textbooks again in Nov, he came across the errors in Class VI and Class VIII books. It was also communicated to him that the mistakes were rectified and the corrected copy was uploaded on the portal. However, after the commencement of the academic year in June, he checked the textbooks to find that the copies made available in the market were error-free. However, the copies distributed among children in govt schools had the mistakes. Upon hearing the petitioner, the bench of Acting Chief Justice M R Pathak and Justice Nirzar Desai issued notice to the Board seeking its reply on the circulation of textbooks without correction in schools.
