The videos are said to have been recorded by students from one of Nirma University’s girls’ hostel blocks near Vaishnodevi Circle. Inspector K N Bhukan said, “We will ascertain whether it was recorded at the hostel location and identify who was working at the building site close by at that time. Stating that the video is related to the hostel’s H5 block area, the students’ body said the conduct seen in the videos raises serious questions over the safety, dignity and security of female students.
Ahmedabad: Videos purportedly showing a man indulging in a sexually obscene act near Nirma University’s girls’ hostel have gone viral, prompting Sola police to investigate. A building is coming up next to the block. In the footage, a man is purportedly seen facing the hostel and engaging in the act. Another clip purportedly shows a person removing his clothes. The videos were widely circulated in student groups. A case will be registered after the person is identified and facts are verified. The National Students’ Union of India ( NSUI ) has demanded an immediate and impartial inquiry into the incident.
Seeking a written response from the university detailing the action taken, NSUI said it will launch a democratic protest if immediate and transparent action is not taken.
