Ahmedabad: A 66-year-old visa consultant has alleged that a Mumbai-based overseas consultancy cheated her of Rs 30.9 lakh after taking money to arrange work permit visas for eight clients but failed to complete the process or refund the amount. The complainant, who has been running a visa consultancy business for around 20 years, contacted a sales executive of the accused consultancy through Justdial and outsourced overseas visa-related work to the firm, according to the FIR. In 2025, she allegedly assigned the consultancy work for Austria work permits for five clients. Their applications were filed through VFS Austria in June 2025 but were rejected by the Austrian Embassy in July. The applications were subsequently filed again but were rejected for a second time in Oct 2025. She alleged that around Rs 22.3 lakh was transferred from her and her husband’s bank accounts to the Mumbai-based consultancy between Jan and June 2025. She also allegedly paid Rs 1.3 lakh towards priority visa fees for the five clients in June and another Rs 1.4 lakh in Oct. The complainant further alleged that Rs 3 lakh was paid for one client and Rs 1.5 lakh each for two others towards work permit visa processing.

“The opposite party sent us offer letters by email, but thereafter did not carry out any further proceedings,” she alleged. She said she later contacted a former employee of the consultancy, who allegedly told her that he had left the company and that the work was being handled by the owner and other associates. The complainant repeatedly called the owner of Overseas Consultancy based at Mumbai regarding this matter, but he did not give satisfactory answers and did not return the money, the complainant stated. She alleged that the accused collected money through bank transfers, online payments and cash and cheated her by failing to provide the promised visa services.
