Mangaluru: Following a request from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda) chairperson Santhosh Kumar Shetty visited several locations, including Tannirbhavi, Bengre, Bondel, Mulur, Kandavara and Kudupu, to identify a suitable site for the construction of a well-equipped cricket stadium and to assess lake development works at various places in the Mangaluru assembly constituency on Sunday.

The KSCA has sought around 50 acres of govt land in Mangaluru to develop cricket infrastructure, including practice facilities and other essential amenities. Shetty said that he has inspected various locations in the city following a request from the KSCA to build a large-scale cricket stadium, develop sports infrastructure, and provide better facilities for cricket players. With the construction of a well-equipped cricket stadium in Mangaluru, local cricket players are expected to get greater opportunities, and growth in the field of sports is also anticipated, he said. Various places in the city were inspected to examine suitable locations for the stadium. Shetty also conducted a site inspection in view to laying the foundation stone for various lake development works in the Kumpala, Amblamogaru, and Harekala areas of the Ullal assembly constituency. Visiting the sites regarding the development and proper maintenance of the area’s lakes, he gathered necessary information regarding the implementation of the development works.
