Kolkata: Trinamool Baruipur East MLA Bibhas Sardar sustained injuries on Saturday after he was allegedly attacked twice within a distance of around 2 km while returning from a public outreach programme in his constituency on Saturday. The first incident took place in the Mansatala area, where a group of miscreants armed with sticks allegedly dragged him out of his car and assaulted him, according to the MLA. He sustained injuries to his head and hands, says Sardar. When the MLA’s security guard tried to rescue him, the attackers surrounded the guard, giving Sardar an opportunity to escape. In the second alleged attack, Sardar’s car was surrounded and vandalised. The MLA contacted Joynagar police station from the spot, following which cops rescued him.
