GNT Road, which is part of National Highway 16 that begins in West Bengal, running through Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, enters the city at Madhavaram as a 12km long state-highway, plying through Erukkanchery, Vyasarpadi, Basin Bridge, Wall Tax Road, and finally ending at Chennai Central. after Vyasarpadi, it becomes barely a two lane road, and in Wall Tax Road, the highway is just 1.5 lane in some spots While it is largely wide till Erukkanchery with even three lanes in some parts.
The highways will float fresh tenders after the DPR has been prepared.
