Vivek, a driver, surrendered at Neelankarai police station for stabbing his wife Muthupriya to death during a quarrel
CHENNAI: A 38-year-old man surrendered at Neelankarai police station after stabbing his 33-year-old wife to death during a domestic dispute at their rented house in Palavakkam on Friday morning. The woman suffered 10 stab injuries to her neck and jaw, police said.
Police said Vivek frequently quarrelled with his wife, accusing her of having deceived him before their marriage. The family moved into a rented house in Palavakkam, a month ago. After the incident, Vivek took their daughter to his brother Vinoth’s house in Mudichur and left her in his care. He then went to Neelankarai police station and surrendered, informing the police that he had killed his wife. During the preliminary inquiry, police learnt from family members that Vivek had received treatment for mental health issues at a private hospital in KK Nagar, Madurai, three months ago.
He was taken into custody for questioning.
