Speaker J C D Prabhakar

Prabhakar said water resources minister N Anand had met him in his office earlier in the day and brought the remarks to his notice, seeking clarity on whether they amounted to a breach of privilege. That the remarks were made outside the assembly does not automatically rule out action if they were found to affect the dignity of the House or its members, he said. “I will examine the speech and take an appropriate decision,” Prabhakar added.

Chandrasekaran made the remarks at the wedding of a DMK functionary, where leader of the opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin was also present. Chennai: A political row over remarks made by DMK MLA Durai Chandrasekaran against chief minister C Joseph Vijay and industries minister S Keerthana spilled into the assembly on Monday, with dairy development minister Vijayalakshmi urging speaker J C D Prabhakar to initiate action against the legislator.
