Police are probing if there is connection between the two incidents
Police said Sasidharan had completed a diploma course and joined the college directly in the second year about 15 days ago. The incident came a day after Sherin, 19, a second-year Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning student at the same college, died after jumping from the fifth floor of a college building on Wednesday evening.
Police said the reason for his suspected suicide attempt was yet to be established. Police said Sherin’s father works abroad and her mother is a professor. Sherin was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries but died later. Her body was sent to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai for postmortem examination. Officials from the Sriperumbudur revenue division have conducted an inquiry at the college following Sherin’s death. Police are probing whether there is any connection between the two incidents.
Preliminary inquiries indicated that she had been experiencing emotional distress. A note recovered during the investigation is also being examined.
