New Delhi: A couple had a close shave in southwest Delhi’s Jaffarpur Kalan after four men allegedly opened fire at them, reportedly triggered by an abusive message.
On Sept 12, two of the accused, Sahil and Rahul, had allegedly intercepted the complainant, Sumit , near Rawta Mor in Delhi.
Following the message, the accused collected firearms and proceeded to Sumit’s house, where they allegedly fired at him and his wife with an intention to kill,” said DCP Kushal Pal Singh. The accused, identified as Sahil, Rahul Dagar , Yash and Jatin, have been arrested. Yash and Jatin followed and allegedly assaulted Sumit and opened fire, including an attempt to shoot at him from close range. Sumit’s wife, Nisha , was also allegedly assaulted when she tried to intervene. The accused then fled to Haryana to evade arrest. A team of Dwarka Police raided their hideouts in Jhajjar, Rohtak and Bahadurgarh, but they kept moving. They were apprehended from a forest in Mitraon Village. Firearms allegedly used in the shooting were found in their possession. “The accused were drinking alcohol when Sumit allegedly sent an abusive voice note to one of the accused and threatened to kill him.
Accused Rahul was previously involved in five criminal cases, while Sonu has one previous criminal involvement.
