A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband inside a north Delhi hotel
The couple checked into a hotel in the Lahori Gate area around 3.30 pm. The incident came to light around 5.20 am Thursday when the hotel staff alerted police after finding Shivani lying in a pool of blood inside the room. The incident comes amid a series of murders reported in hotels in central and north Delhi.
Police said Prakash travelled to Delhi Wednesday and contacted Shivani after reaching the city, asking her to meet him at the hotel. Police said Shivani had two stab wounds. Investigators suspect he had planned the killing and subsequently intended to take his own life. A police team reached the spot and found Prakash too. He was unconscious. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Shivani brought dead. Prakash is under treatment. Investigators suspect Prakash stabbed her at night before consuming some poisonous substance. Police are waiting for his condition to stabilise before questioning him.
A preliminary inquiry has revealed that the couple had a family-related dispute.
