New Delhi: The rakhis may have come off, but Delhi Traffic Police hopes the road-safety message they carried will stay. On Raksha Bandhan , traffic personnel used flowers, rakhis and counselling to reinforce the importance of following traffic rules and staying safe on the road.
Under the campaign, “Rakhi Ka Waada, Suraksha Ka Iraada”, the traffic police appreciated road users who were following traffic rules. Female traffic personnel tied rakhis to responsible commuters as a symbolic gesture of safety and protection. The campaign focused on some of the most basic road-safety rules: wearing helmets and seat belts, obeying traffic signals and avoiding mobile phone use while driving. In east Delhi, traffic personnel counselled motorists about road safety and handed flowers to some road users. The initiative aimed to remind motorists that following traffic rules is ultimately about their own safety and that of other road users.
