New Delhi: Delhi govt will organise Aangan Ka Milan programmes across all 70 assembly constituencies from Sept 23 to honour anganwadi workers as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
At present, an anganwadi worker in Delhi gets Rs 12,720 a month. Around 25,000 invitations are being sent for the programmes. Around 500 people are proposed to participate in each constituency. Govt has prepared a felicitation kit worth Rs 2,500 for the anganwadi workers.

Chief minister Rekha Gupta said anganwadi workers play a crucial role at the grassroots in taking govt services to children, women and families. She said their dedication and contribution deserved recognition and that honouring them was govt’s responsibility. Delhi govt is also considering an increase in the honorarium of anganwadi workers, Gupta said.
These will include MLAs and other public representatives, beneficiaries, children, pregnant women, lactating women, parents, anganwadi workers and helpers, creche workers and helpers, community representatives and other stakeholders. Participants will also take a nutrition pledge during the programmes. The kit includes a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch and an umbrella. During the assembly-level programmes, the chief guest will present the kits to the workers. Download the TOI App.
