The leaders had travelled to Delhi for the party’s proposed ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. “We appeal to everyone to march towards Jantar Mantar! If Delhi Police tries to stop you, wherever they stop you will become your Jantar Mantar,” the CJP tweeted alongside a video message from the party’s national organisation in-charge, Ajinkya Shinde. Delhi Police had denied permission for the demonstration, citing public safety, traffic management and law-and-order concerns.

Earlier, the CJP had appealed to its supporters to march towards Jantar Mantar, saying that any place where police stopped them would become their protest site. NEW DELHI: The CJP on Saturday urged people who were allegedly unlawfully detained during its anti-CEC protest in Delhi to fill out a form to help the party compile information and provide legal assistance to those affected. CJP leaders detained ahead of protest CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke, along with co-convenor Saurav Das and leader Ashutosh Ranka, was detained by Delhi Police after arriving in the capital from Mumbai on Saturday.
