New Delhi: Delhi Police apprehended 19 people and registered 13 FIRs in a crackdown on ticket touting and unauthorised resale of cricket match tickets around Arun Jaitley Stadium during the India vs Afghanistan Friendship Cup T20 matches. Police recovered 71 match tickets and Rs 7,400 cash from the accused. After verification, the suspects were apprehended and booked under Section 4(C) of the Delhi Prevention of Touting and Malpractices against Tourists Act, 2010.

DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said, “Police used intelligence-based surveillance, discreet verification and decoy customers to establish suspected illegal ticket transactions. Police said the investigation found that some accused had procured tickets at comparatively lower prices and were attempting to resell them to spectators at substantially higher rates. The cases were registered at IP Estate police station. The source of the tickets and their subsequent transfer are being verified.
